Troubleshooting Ingenico
Question: I rebooted my computer and now the Ingenico is not working. What do I do?
Answer: The terminal did not reconnect during the reboot. This could also be the case after losing and restoring an internet connection, or possibly at any time during the day. The terminal needs to be rebooted.
Always pay attention to the terminal during the reboot process. Do not launch the STX software until you see Checking In Device on the terminal screen. If you don’t see that message, the terminal has timed out and needs to be rebooted.
- Completely close STX by going to the STX menu and selecting the Quit option.
- Unplug the Ingenico terminal from the computer.
- Wait approximately 30 seconds.
- Replug the Ingenico terminal into the computer.
- Wait until you see the message Checking In Device on the terminal screen.
- Launch the STX Software but don’t login.
- Wait until you see the PaymentMate or Welcome message on the terminal screen.
- Log into STX.
If you wait to launch the STX Software until the PaymentMate or Welcome message appears on the terminal screen, you have waited too long. You must launch the STX Software at the time the Checking In Device message appears on the terminal screen.
Question: Manual Entry is processing, but the swiping or inserting are not. What do I do?
Answer: The terminal is working and so is the account if a manual entry is processing as expected. However, the terminal may need to be rebooted if swiping or inserting are failing. If rebooting the terminal does not solve the issue, the card itself does not allow for the chip to work. This is something the issuing bank has to resolve. The cardholder should contact their bank to let them know the challenges when using the card.
Question: Only swiping is working, but not inserting. What do I do?
Answer: The terminal is working and so is the account if a the swiping is processing as expected. However, the terminal may need to be rebooted if inserting the card is failing. If rebooting the terminal does not solve the issue, the card itself does not allow for the chip to work. This is something the issuing bank has to resolve. Question: I am getting a message “Ingenico not ready” when trying to process a payment in STX. What do I do?
Answer: Try rebooting the terminal. If you still receive the “Ingenico not ready” message, reboot the computer. When the computer is rebooted, reboot the terminal again.
